The Sustainable Development Center for Matrouh Resources (SDCMR), affiliated with the Desert Research Center (DRC), concluded a two-day training course titled “The Sustainable Approach to Water and Soil Management in Drylands” on October 29.
Organized within the SALAM-MED Project, the course focused on the use of beneficial microorganisms to improve soil fertility, crop productivity, and water-use efficiency in arid environments.

Attending the event on behalf of Eng. Mahmoud El-Amir, Director of SDCMR, were Prof. Hamada Ibrahim, Director of the Center for Applied Research, Prof. Amr Abdel-Gawad, Head of the Water and Desert Land Resources Division, Dr. Ahmed El-Shenawy, Executive Director of SALAM-MED, Dr. Safè Ouensu, Assistant Professor at the University of Sassari (Italy), Prof. Mona El-Shazly, Professor of Soil Microbiology and Head of the Biological Agriculture Unit at SDCMR, and Dr. Ferdous Abdel-Hamid, Assistant Professor in the Geophysical Exploration Department, along with several postgraduate students, trainees, and specialists in desert agriculture.
