A workshop titled “Trees or Pastures? Improving Grazing Areas and Managing Tree Components in Silvopastoral Systems” will take place in Berchidda (Sardinia) on Wednesday, November 3rd.
The event will explore the multifunctional role of trees in pastures, species selection, optimal density, regeneration and pruning, grazing management, and the ecological and economic benefits of trees in silvopastoral systems.
The CAFE technology, developed by the Polytechnic University of Valencia, will be presented — an adaptive vegetation management tool that helps plan tree density, distribution, and interventions to enhance productivity, climate resilience, and biodiversity.
The program includes a field visit at 2:30 PM in Terrapadedda and a session at 4:30 PM at the Wine Museum.
The event is organized by the ZOOTRACK Operational Group (Measure 16.1, RDP Sardinia) in collaboration with international projects PRIMA SALAM-MED and Horizon Europe MONALISA, coordinated by the NRD – Desertification Research Center, University of Sassari.
ZOOTRACK is a public-private partnership led by Bonifiche Ferraresi and the Department of Agriculture, University of Sassari, with agri-livestock enterprises associated with Coldiretti Nord Sardegna.
